However, my biggest reason for choosing 3 is that any more than that and you start seeing more afk players than people who are really there at the keyboard playing. It makes it difficult to find people to train you and I feel like socialization suffers when too many people are afk in the cantinas and med centers. Some of my best pre-cu SWG memories are from being a Master Musician in a full cantina where very few people were afk. It just makes the game feel more alive. I would say whatever the final number is, there should still be the +1 slot for the jedi unlock.
The afk people standing around will never cease. Regardless of how many we are allowed total, we will always be allowed to log 2 in regardless. You're argument is invalid here.

Not everyone is abusing the amount of characters we are allowed. I have 7 characters that I have been actually playing so far & 1 that has plans for her use to me. All the money I have earned on this server is mainly from BH missions. I have an ent & a doctor but I still use others & tip them when I do. I made extra characters to help when there are none around. That does not hurt anyone. I have 10 toons made & I have 2 harvesters down right now. Sometimes I place a few more but have never put down more than 12 at one time between all my characters. I can handle 10 characters w/the plan of being here for years because I am not trying to power grind any of them, like most of you seem to be. I see the "problems" being brought up, but only a hand full of people are actually doing that. Those people need to help others grow instead of being greedy & blocking economy growth.

I think we should be able to keep our characters if we want to & any new accounts made should be allowed less. Maybe the people that are being indirectly referenced here should be talked to about their manner of game play. If you don't know who those people are then you obviously haven't checked out the bazaar lately. It seems that those of you totally okay with having your toon count cut are the ones who have already taken full advantage of your characters & no longer need what it provides, thus leaving you waaaaay on top & making sure no one can ever come close to what you got.

Might as well limit it to only 1 allowed per account, 1 account per IP and 1 character logged in at a time. If you truly want to stop people from taking advantage and monopolizing the economy. Fuck over only a handful of people who actually play the game the way it was intended to? Might as well fuck over everyone to make it "balanced" since that seems to be the basis of everyone's arguments.

In my opinion, this discussion was a mistake to begin with. The only thing it is doing is causing a rift in the community that will never heal.

The post might be from yesterday, but the poll runs til the 19th. The discussion isn't limited to just 'yesterday'. Until the 19th rolls around and the amount of characters is decided upon, the discussion will continue.

Why is there an issue with discussing it?

There is no issue with discussing anything. The issue is the fact that people aren't going to be the same after it is over. It's bringing to light alot of things people are doing to be greedy and take advantage. Not everyone should suffer for the handful of people who are being greedy and selfish.

This reminds me of the Imperial Faction Point discussion. Lol. I've learned to just not talk to people about suggestions that may help the server.

I have been on this server two weeks, and have no crafters.
Im supporting the reduction because it makes sense for the long term life of the server.

I also started my WS on live 2 years after launch, and despite it being dominated by 2 big names,
I became one of the most successful WS on the server.

So i would have to politely disagree with what your saying.

Economy seems to be the main issue here. There are only a few that are actually taking advantage of it. The entire server should not be chastised because of a handful of people. Those people should be dealt with individually. There are less than 10 people that are monopolizing the economy by having a master of each craft and selling mass quantities of things from each craft. Nobody can begin to compete because instead of selling their over-abundance of resources, they are choosing to hoard it to maintain their grip on the economy. The economy is borked because those few are dictating the prices of things. Anytime someone TRIES to sell their wares at a reasonable price, they get bashed on and flamed and called all manner of nasty names for it. My wife suffers from PTSD, Bi-polarism and manic depression. To see her severely upset and pushed to the point of crying because someone calls her a lousy piece of trash for selling her merchandise at a price that a new player can actually afford to pay has pushed me to the point of not holding my tounge. The reason behind the majority of people creating their own buffers and crafters is because they don't want to pay for the ridiculously over-priced services that are being charged by the very people who are monopolizing the economy, thus causing the issue at hand here, which also happen to be the very same ones fighting to cut us off at the knees because they already have everything they need. A few people have noticed that Qin for example, has the same city in the same location on the same planet on more than just one server. Are you going to do something to get rid of obvious gold/credit-farmers such as this?

To anyone using the "10k missions" argument... not everyone has the time to spend grinding out those missions and is therefore left in the dust without the ability to purchase anything because they can't afford it.

To those who want a reduction in character slots, feel free to give them up. The ones who don't like the idea should be able to keep all 10 because of the progress some of us have put into all 10. Any new accounts should be limited to 5 or less.

Yes, have been here 37 days and have Mastered exactly Entertainer, Dancer and Musician (just as of last night)(so am not exactly dominating the economy) and support reducing the # of characters per account and especially lot numbers that characters get as well.

If you give people 10 character slots you can't get mad at them for using them in a way you don't like.

I'm a little stumped at your position here, because with how irate you're getting over people using their characters to dominate the market, you would think you'd see the reduction as a good thing.

If you offer up an advantage the breaks the game... the solution is to *fix the game,* not say "Hey guys... you know.. stop it."

You're really offering up suggestions here that fight against you. We've already gone over why this would literally be handing the server over to a small handful of players.

Fine. Reduce it to 1 character per account, 1 account per IP adress and only 1 logged in at any given time. Solution to everything.

With 10 characters, you can finish a full "grind" melee template (Capable of soloing Krayts mind you), within a week if you take it slow. 3 days if you power level it. Then grab a buff and run missions instead of crafting for a couple hours and you'll have a couple hundred thousand easily.

In regards for the second part, I agree and disagree. I have about 5 characters that are full templated (Zedz is only Architect because I cant be asked to craft anything). The rest are mainly fodder. I'm not sure I even know anyone in game that has ten full templated characters. That's a bit overkill. And what are new players supposed to think when they join the server and realize they only get 5 when the person who joined the server a week before them gets 10?

I don't know what your doing wrong...but I have only 2 characters created.
I'm 2 weeks old. I have 4 sets of comp, about 20 quality weapons, 12 profs mastered, and 2mill creds.
I've never once felt like I cant make it in the game because of qin
or Sam. In fact I'd be a lot worse off without the goods they make lol.

Agreed, I know there were many people in live that did extremely well with 4 characters or less. I had 3 that I played on live and I had an absolute blast everyday

I can understand where some people would be upset being forced to pick characters they have spent time on. But it really is for the good of the server and a solid foundation for hopefully years of SWG fun. You couldn't ask people to play the game, in this case the economy differently. Nor could you rely on people to not do something to this effect again. At least this way, with 5 (hopefully 3) characters, if someone wants a monopoly on the market, they will have to do it the old fashioned honest way, setting up a corp of players to do it instead of doing it with just one account. That seems well worth it to me.
