The ones defending the reduction are the ones causing the problem. They already have everything they need, they are bored and only want to fuck with the little guy.

I was planning to donate $100+ to the server... not going to now.
First of all attacking the three individuals who have actually been responsible for stimulating the economy is just dumb. The fact they chose to spend their time providing the armor, buff packs, food and drink, and weapons that most people have been using to go run missions is stupid. Saying these three individuals control the economy is silly when people expect them to provide things for them.

The server is growing to the point where they will no longer dominate and other players are also providing some of the same good and services they do. The server is 4 months old .... if you think dynamic shifts won't happen you are obviously the type of individual who sees the glass half empty and not half full.

I for one know that Syph has gotten where he has gotten by doing lot trades with people and has provided them with harvesters for free, so that they too can get their crafter established. I have had Sam's give me things, or slice stuff for free to help me out when i first started. Bashing individuals who can be pretty much be credited with getting everyone the items they need is just dumb.

If you want to craft craft ... if you want to BH...then BH .. but don't suggest that because someone has been successful in the game they should somehow be shut down for being too successful. Perhaps if you want a piece of their pie you should start crafting.

I understand Pharcyde's frustration but Sam's in particular has provided very inexpensive armor and weapons and has given me both at no change when I had no money so I agree that attacking these crafter's is not warranted. It all comes down to time played: the longer you play the better resources you acquire and become available in game. Sam's and the others got a jump on everyone else and chose great profs to get started with to make money and that were also going to be in high demand. I commend them for their hard work and dedication to the community.

Eventually that will shift and other crafters will emerge (ahem) that will challenge their "monopoly" and people will still whine about crafter's overcharging - mostly because they don't craft themselves and don't understand what goes into crafting.

Sry, but I just dont buy that argument one little bit.
It's not about being successful - it's about have options to play the game. I don't want to be pigeon-holed into one or two profs - I want to have fun.

All of you people on here wanting to lower the character count bitched when the NGE "took away" your professions and yet you're all on board with taking away other people's game options.

If this was an MMO where you choose a class, and thats the class you are forever, your point would be valid.
This game does not work like that.
you want to try other things? go ahead and drop it and do it.
thats the beauty of the sandbox. you can wipe it clean and do other things.

Oh..just what I want to do...spend countless hours on one prof and then erase what I've worked hard on and start something else. Brilliant.

Hey, I've done it before. Sometimes you master something and find you don't enjoy it for end-game content. Sometimes you're an RPer and your character takes a new direction. You may not want to do it, but the point is that the option's there. ^.^

I have a suggestion. Obviously the hope would be that if you been here longer than 30 days there is some sort of grandfather clause. At the same token it will seem somewhat unfair so i have a suggestion.

Reduce it to 7 let people pick their 3 characters that are frozen .. not deleted. Start new players out with 5 characters. For each 20 dollar donation allow grandfathered players to release one of their frozen toons .. For new players who remain here more than 90 days for each 20 dollar donation allow them to unlock up to two addition slots for a maximum of 7.

It's more than the 5 for existing players who are upset about losing toons .. but they could unfreeze them by supporting the server a little bit. If you can't afford to donate you still have 7 characters ... 2 more than someone new.

I just feel people want to weigh in so heavily and get angry at the thought of losing their hard earned toons on a FREE server .. is kind of funny. Anyway it isn't profiting as we all know that ED has been paying for shortages for some time. It's a good compromise and if you are that hell bent and serious about your lot mules then donating a little cash over a few months wouldnt' be that painful :)

Although the game is free I do donate and will continue to do so monthly so in a sense i AM paying to play. I always thought the 1-2 characters per account was stupid and ended up paying for 6 accounts so I could do what I WANTED to do and I don't regret spending that money - I had a great time.

Big Ed and the devs of course can do whatever they feel is best for the server but I hope they keep things the way they are. I never in my life have seen people playing a game WANTING stuff taken away...unreal.

It's taking away something that makes the game something it wasn't meant to be. You payed for 6 accounts? Cool. It's not what SOE had in mind for people to do, though. This game is meant to pick something you want to do and dedicate yourself to it. You had to go and find other players to get things you needed, even progressing your skills themselves. You weren't meant to be able to do everything yourself on multiple characters. This server is trying to recreate that experience, therefore character limits must be enforced. If you don't like it then you don't seem like you're meant for this server.

Keep in mind though that servers had thousands of players ... we don't have that here Yet. Hopefully we will someday. IMO having multiple accounts isn't that big of a deal .. and honestly people cry about prices and how these people are getting so rich but most of the prices in game are not even close to what they were in live for some things so i'm pretty confused why people say stuff about crafters over charging LOL> Armor was 200k plus for composite, buffs were 10k or more, janta buffs were 20k plus. Swoops ... 20k was pretty normal they take 8k resources people sell them for less than 2cpu .. it baffles me on one hand people are screaming about monopolies but they argue you can't take away their 10 combat toons but you gotta punish the crafters somehow lol.

I voted for 2, would be happy with 5, and would be fine with 10. 10 players really doesn't bother me just means i gotta work a bit harder to get my harvesters in the best places before someone else does. As for the people charging too much, eh something is only worth as much as someone else will pay for it so if you don't like the price don't buy it. But also remember crafters are putting in hard work to get rich off you, which in turn gives you the equipment you need to get rich off of missions..... it's a never ending cycle that you'll grow to love.

Makes sense, I had 3 accounts in live myself for that matter and 6 characters going as well.. if it is a matter of too many harvesters cluttering entire planets and the likes I would suggest making a cap of maybe having max 20 harvesters per account no matter size that can be put down for harvesting and maybe max 10 houses and 5 factories per account.

And also crafters is over charging prices compared to the current quality of materials.

There are multiple reasons.
1) Amount of harvesters
2) City sizes due to slots
3) server db size/load
4) economy/market due to everyone being self-sufficient

Yep get all that and understand, but still waiting on your solution and timescale to add it to game. Like I said before, do I continue playing on chars and grinding them up only to have them deleted?
