So, I've been scouring the interwebs trying to find out what the different armors are, and what they're used for. Personally, on my combat toon, I see Ubese and Composit armors only. I know that these aren't the only two armors, and I'm wondering what the reasons for not seeing other armors in the game? So, I'm going to try and compile this post with a list of the armor sets and what they're for (in laymen's terms.) I'll update the OP as information floods in, but I'd like the input of others to qualify my writings.
Bone Armor: Special Protection is Energy and with good resources can get up to at least 45% Energy Resist (0 layer slots.) Can be made by an Artisan, so don't need an AS to make.

Mabari Armorweave:
Chitin: Special Protection is Kinetic and with good resources can get up to at least 65% Kinetic Resist (0 layer slots)
Ubese Armor: Special Protection is Kinetic and with good resources can get up to at least 75% Kinetic Resist with 1x kinetic layer (1 layer slot.)
Padded Armor: Special Protection is Blast and with good resources can get up to 80% Blast Resist with 2x blast layers (2 layer slot.) Because of the 2x layer slots on Padded Armor you can also reach near 60% Kinetic Resists using 2x kinetic layers (probably a more popular choice compared to blast.)
Composite Armor: Very different from other armors, it has a Special Protection of Electricity but because of its 3x layer slots you can reach 80% with any type of layer used.
Are there any other Armors? and what are the basics of each of these? I'll be researching and updating this as I find info.

These are just a few things off the top of my head (you forgot Padded Armor on the list)

well Tantel is bugged atm so I won't be crafting any of that until it is fixed but ill try to remember.
Tantel Armor: Special Protection is Energy and with good resources can getup to at least 50% Energy Resist (1 layer slot)
-Bonus is Tantel is the only armor to have Stun Resist by default in the base effectiveness

What's bugged about it? Don't want to exploit, but even using for an "exotic" decorative set...

Atm Tantel Armor also has Lightsaber Resist but the Awakening staff has stated this is not intentional and will be fixed. They also said to not use any of this armor to fight Jedi but as decoration it should be fine to display.kaosukoden wrote:What's bugged about it? I'm working my way up the AS tree to Master. I'm also looking at putting up a "dummies guide to armor" shop somewhere, so instead of having a bunch of numbers (which is helpful if you know what to look for) I'm going to have set's labeled as "great for grinding animals" or "great for grinding humanoids" that sort of thing. But I'd like to know a bit more about the armor myself.

This new spawn of Bronzium Iron I was able to craft a few test pieces of Mabari Armor.
non enhanced high base Mabari Armor

With better resources I could see myself reaching 30% base which includes Kinetic (pretty much only useful stat in this case).
Also for the purpose of testing I made a non enhanced high special protection version.

Then I went ahead and used a 7% Kinetic/1% Energy Voritor Scale to enhance the armor to a pretty respectable 45% Kinetic (with a 12% Kinetic Krayt Scale I could reach 50% Kinetic).

This is about as detailed as I can get for Mabari Armor I hope it helps you out

I did some testing on Tantel Armor after I saw they fixed the bug with lightsaber resist.
High Energy - I was able to reach 50% Energy Special Protection with around 15% Base Effectiveness (Includes Stun Resist)
High Base - I was able to reach 30% Energy Special Protection with 26% Base Effectiveness (Includes Stun Resist)
