How to encourage more PvP?

8. TEF needs to be more sensitive, should occur with splash damage (and dots).
9. PvP kill counter on profiles (not deaths)


I absolutely understand everyone is hesitant to make any changes. I'd like to stress that I'm not expecting any overhauls or content additions. I appreciate all the feedback and I hope everyone can look at these with an open mind.
I'm not hesitant... however, there are some Negative Nancy's that don't want PvP because they hate to die in a video game. ::)

Regarding number 6 - make it happen! GCW is a choice to participate in, if people don't like representing their faction they can resign or self demote to not be flagged.

People want to participate in GCW without fighting other players...

3. No longer lose faction points when killed by player of opposing faction. Not likely without a redesign of the entire system
4. Increased faction reward for killing players. I could see this if it's limited to titles. No gear should be rewarded
5. Defeated players will be locked out of PvP for 5 minutes after cloning. (Prevent faction farming, clone camping, revenge killing). Possible, but may be too extreme for those wanting to jump back in to a fight quickly.

There are just too many things that would require us to completely rework the pvp system. Personally I think weapons should have their damage reduced. Buffs aren't high enough to sustain a real pvp fight and pve weapons are too op except against higher end mobs. I think players should be able to pvp without buffs and reduced damaged weapons.

Yeah I said it. Weapons here are too strong. Ed....nerf'em!

Seriously though, weapons could be nerfed to 1-5 damage (PLS NO), and people still would not pvp without buffs.
Buffs are an advantage, and every pvp'er ever wants every advantage they can get.

Yeah I was joking. Unless we made pvp specific weapons and armor, then we'd just be wow with a swg skin.

Cool, thanks everyone for your positive feedback! I also really like the idea of having a PvP kill counter. If nothing else, I think just implementing #6, 7, and 9 would have a positive impact on PvP. Also #8 is a pretty important oversight that should be addressed. I didn't realize that splash damage and DoTs didn't trigger TEF.
