Not sure if I am seeing a bug (to report) or just foggy memory of how CH worked back in live...
Is anybody else seeing the following?:
Once you send your creature in to tank for you, combat mode doesn't always clear (crossed red swords indicator) even after the target you sent it against is dead and harvested (gone from play)... you can go on to clear the entire lair, and your character will be at peace, but creature is still shown as in combat, even though there is nobody fighting it (and no attack music playing)... with the combat indicator on, you can't store the pet... I find I have to exit all the way out (soft logout doesn't clear it) or I have to do something that would force a pet store (like take a shuttle, etc.).
It's not a big deal if all of the targets are done, but it is a problem in a couple of cases:
1) if pet is incapped and the target is still alive, there is no point reviving pet because as soon as he is up, he charges back after the target, usually before you can effectively heal him, so he gets incapped again.
2) if pet is out, and you see a new baby to try to tame, you can't put the original pet away to do so, you have to exit all the way out...
Sometimes it clears on its own, that is where the foggy memory of how CH worked in live came in... is there some other condition (healing, wounds, states, etc.) that affects whether or not you can store? But the game doesn't notify you that you can't do that action right now (like it does for some other stuff, e.g. some actions don't work when stunned, blind, intimidated, etc. you just have to know from experience they don't work, but the game won't tell you that is why you can't harvest, heal, etc.) Is combat mode for pets similar, like you can't store because stuck in combat mode, but combat mode doesn't clear after combat ends... because somthing else is going on you either can't see, or game doesn't notify you about...

I have personally done extensive testing on CH and have not run into said issue. That doesn't mean however there aren't a few bugs out there we will come across from time to time. The code is still fairly young and we try to reproduce the results when someone alerts us to them.
The people we have code for us do so sparsly and in their spare time just like emu, hydian, etc. we will add this one to the list to test further. If it needs some code revision it could be awhile. Keep letting us know about those issues and if any other ch's run into this or any other problems please post em!

Of course, I played an hour or two last night just grinding the low level CH boxes with my motley assortment of pets and it didn't happen once... ;-) Will keep an eye out for it and try to see if I notice anything else happening along with that condition that may be contributing.

Sometimes telling a pet to "follow" will clear the combat. Other times it wont. You can always go to the datapad, store the incapped pet, and call it back out, that has always worked for me.
Any idea if the pet special attack commands will get implemented?

Thanks, will try the suggestions above, sometimes storing and recalling clear it, but not always... eventually it just goes away on its own, just didn't know if it was something that more experienced CH's were familiar with like it's related to heals, or wounds, or some other thing. Only time I find it annoying is when you have a pet out, who's stuck in combat mode and you run across a baby you really want to tame... but you can't because you can't put the first pet into datapad... can usually do a full Exit out of game and return and we are back in business.

Don't recall if it was like this on live, but telling the pet to Follow (after combat is over) does clear the combat flag, making the pet free to Store again...) thanks!

I had the same problem. I found the way around it is to tell your pet to follow and it drops agro to everything.

I've noticed occasionally when I've been fighting that even after I kill a creature or a lair that it will act as if I am still in combat..the combat que is still up, music still playing, yet the thing I was fighting is dead and I have to hit the peace button on the combat que to get out of combat, also when logging back in after a reset sometimes it will have the combat que up as if I am still fighting whatever I'd been fighting prior to the server reset. Maybe something similar is happening to pets?

Thanks to all who replied... issuing the Follow command is my new best friend...
- Follow clears combat...
- Freshly revived pet doesn't go running back to attack with 1 hitpoint... and immediately dies again...
- Pets in combat won't heal, so clear it with Follow to get that heal going...
- My RL dog will only come if treats are offered, my unnamed Male Kaadu obeys his coding everytime!!!

I've experienced the same thing twice so far. It would probably pay to hardlog before sending pet in to tank multiple mobs.
