train pets?

Hello All,
I was a CH pre CU on Kauri from the 2nd-3rd week of the live game. As I recall, and I may be wrong, it would take between 3 and 6 trains for the pet to learn a command. I have tried to train my pets commands upwards of 30 times without them learning today. Can anyone let me know if this is the norm or is there a bug? I am a novice CH here and am loving the pre-cu, just wanting to know what I should expect.
