Quick back ground - due to live char limits I never got into crafting (save for a Shipwright but that was mainly for R/Eing). With more toons available here I wanted to try my hand at some crafting (namely armorsmith).

I've been trying to google guides and such but I am a bit confused still and was hoping someone wouldn't mind taking a few mins (in game??) to maybe answer some questions for me. I generally play from about 830/9pm ish EST to around midnight most nights. If you will be free to chat plz either post here or PM me with when/what toon you would be available on so I can reach out.

Appreciate in advance!

For others' reference since the questions covered a lot of good topics:

Q's:

1- Is it safe to assume for Layers and Segments I want focus on the highest quality of OQ and SR I can find? When experimenting on these, max base 1st, then spec, then encumbrance (if there are still points)? Or do I want base/encumb/special?
2- Am I always going to want to use only Kinetic or Blast for layers (and obviously stun for a PVP set)? Seems the guide I found made it seem like if I want 80kn/90b comp I use KN and if I want to keep KN in Base then I would use blast. Do I always want to triple layer for PVE armor?
3- For final piece, am I still only wanting OQ/SR mats? Or am I looking for more balanced stuff (with UT and MA)? In terms of Galaxy Harvester, I assume I want to search/sort layers & segments unchecking the expdurability box so I am only comparing resources that are OQ/SR. For final piece leave everything checked?
4- How do you expirm on final? Max base then encumb?
5- Segment enhancers – like Janta hides, etc. When do I want to use them?
6- If crafting something like RIS or Wookie armor that has Kinetic as the special, do you still use triple KN to keep everything else in base? Or do you use other layer types?
7- Do repair tapes work? I keep reading guides that say no (are prob old), but do they actually work on Awakening?
8- Ive read that you want to shoot for 11%+ special/4% base when crafting layers? True or False?
9- Is there a % like that you want to shoot for when it comes to segments?
10- This one may seem stupid, but I never really got into crafting on live. Can you quickly explain what a “double amazing” result is? And how do you get it? I have high 14 tools (maybe 14.91 but not sure, not home to check), I have 43.xx+ stations, and a house in a research center. I vaguely remember reading there is food I want to eat before assembly, then some drink I want to take before each Exp attempt. If that is true, don’t you fill up before you get to 12 tries? And do you always want to do 1 exp pt at a time? Or would you do like 1 and base 1 and special?

A's:
1. OQ and SR are the priority. Max out base, get enough special to hit 80% in the final craft, then enc. The % for special is different for different applications so you'll need to experiment. You could forgo special in some cases to decrease enc further but I tend to think 76% special looks ugly vs 80% special in the end product - your choice.

2. Kinetic and blast are the most convenient choices right now. You shouldn't try to have high base armor with kinetic layers though - kinetic is the most important resistance in the game. Kinetic layering is just to make guaranteed 80K grind armor. Most of the time you'll want to triple layer kinetic or blast but sometimes you can add in one stun layer to create an intermediate armor between full stun (39) and no protection.

3. Prioritize OQ/Sr but if you can find something with comparable OQ+SR and higher ME or UT use that instead. OQ > SR > ME > UT imo

4. As for experimenting, different AS do different things. I tend to increase condition after resists unless it's specifically a set I want very low encumbrance on. Note that experimenting is different for different types of armor - ex RIS one row of experimentation is for special eff + cond, one for base, and one for enc. The advice I gave is specifically for composite

5. Generally when making stun armor or when you're making individual pieces meant to hit 90% at a high rate. Blast layering is a thing so that janta hides aren't a necessity and you can mass produce pieces that have an okay chance at hitting 90.

6. RIS is its own beast, but to shorten the explanation: 1 Kinetic layer, 1 NS layer, 1 Janta hide for noninterwoven armor.

7. I don't know

8. 4%+ is correct, the special % depends on the craft. 11% would be overkill for many applications

9. It all depends on the application. Kinetic grind is different from high based blast is different from stun is different from low enc elec, etc...

10. Double amazing = amazing success at assembly and experimentation. I don't recall the name of the food/drink off the top of my head but yes if you're shooting for that result you should be consuming both at the appropriate steps and and also be in a manufacturing or research city (exp tends to be more important so research more often than not). You typically experiment with 1 large amount of points for the experimentation bonus from the drink and then smaller amounts to fit whatever you need to reach quality-wise

Other AS feel free to chime in if you disagree or want to expand on any points. I wrote this on a tablet so I didn't go into the highest depth possible

Great info here. I admire the crafting in this game like no other...because there is no other quite like it. It's incredible to watch some of the great crafters who call Awakening home.

For the experimentation part I would suggest you check this guide out: http://www.swgemu.com/archive/scrapbook ... index.html
