This is the formula used on Bas and Exile for Creature resource pricing. Some people modify the math based off of their net gains per hour, but I found that this is a pretty fair overall way to price the stuff we work very hard to get. All credit goes to Kaydmon from Basilisk.
"
(350000-(12*mission payout))/(12*14*droprate from scrawny mob) = lowest CPU I sell at. This is for 12 lairs per hour with 14 mobs each (a number I arrived at through testing various lairs).

(edited for Awakening)

This means that I earn around 350K per hour (the same amount I can earn in a solo group just killing as many lairs as I can for money) regardless of the quality or quantity of resources gathered. This makes some resources not worthwhile to farm but those that are worth farming all bring in around the same amount of credits per hour. Setting a CPU like this still gives me the drive to be as efficient as possible, rather than hiring myself out for that 350K which may leave room for me to slack off. This way people know what they are getting, any extra I get on top of that is a bonus. I don't see much reason to farm for less than 350K an hour with the alternative way of making money being easier. There should be some compensation for being a ranger after all. It also makes it worthwhile for people who usually just run solo groups to consider branching out into rangering which is good for the ones wanting to buy resources?

I can see the arguments behind quality based resource pricing but it seems way too variable to me. Dathomir herbivore meat at 5cpu for example would make ridiculous amounts of money compared to a similar quality dantooine herbivore meat at 5cpu (up to 9 times more). Quality based pricing also leaves it open for rangers to push up the prices if they feel like it, moreso than a fixed pricing model. That's my opinion at least which is why I don't price my resources that way. Resources priced by qualiity generally end up at a higher cpu than those priced by gathering rate.

So I guess i'm asking how you all price your resources so that I can come up with the fairest way possible. I havent been intentionally pushing up my prices in any way and yet some people seem intent on saying that I am, regardless of all arguments I have come up with against it. It would be nice if we didn't end up flaming each other in this thread. I know some people disagree with people advertising their prices and like to scream 'price fixing' at every opportunity, but it's not like price fixing is even possible on any meaningful level in the current state of the server. Anyone can make their own ranger and bypass any cartel that prices unfairly so why would one price their resources too high?

From my point of view at least, my pricing has been at or lower than the 'market price' on the trade forums on most resources so far. I'm finding it hard to understand why this person is accusing me specifically of pricing unfairly. If anyone has any thoughts on that feel free to share them, I'd rather not be ripping people off but all i'm getting from the other thread is a lot of opinions and flaming that is not good feedback in any way. Not sure about the aforementioned drama here, but it's a free market economy. Competition breeds lower prices. Saying "this is the formula" is fine for you; others are free to value their time as they choose. Supply/demand are the only real rules.

Not worth your time for 350k/hr? Don't farm. This dries up supply, driving up prices. Adam Smith and all that fun.

ya I posted a similar formula in this thread awhile back http://www.swgawakening.com/viewtopic.p ... 219#p30219

I would say yours is more realistic but follows the same idea. I do agree with Lassic though that having a formula like this is a good thing that helps Rangers not hurts them. Also non creature resources on Awakening seem to be prices 2-3 times higher than ones on Basilisk so idk if that should be reflected in the creature resources as well.

I just want to clarify, that the only part of that post that is mine is the top couple sentences. The rest is copied from Kayd verbatim. I agree about flexibility. However, I think that if all of us use the same pricing guide it creates a more stable market.
Just like us posting wp for the fat/med/scrawny spots for harvesting. It isn't like we will lose anything if we share this info. We get big bonuses for working together.
