So I was interested in making SWG not look like complete shit while playing. So I looked up some mods and found that these were my favorite to suit my interests. People were interested in them in General, as I was telling them that my game looked much better and didn't look like complete shit for once! These are obviously not the only texture mods out there! So I'll add links to the ones I used, and a link to the forum that has many others.

To install all this crap, just download and extract the files into your C://Program Files/SWGAwakening/Texture folder. And for .7z files, you'll want 7Zip which is about 500 times better than WinRar.

Texture Overhaul:
This adds about 400-500 new textures. Mainly the planet ground/plant/city building textures, and other important ones. Looks pretty damn good
Download:

Satellite Maps:
Replaces the vanilla world maps with satellite composite images of the planet's surface. Makes the map not look like utter trash. If anything, get this.
Download:

UI Overhaul:
Basically just replaces the vanilla UI and removes the horrid boxes and edges on everything. Makes it look much smoother.

Note: All this crap is legal as it is all client side, so no worries about being banned for modding your client. You're safe. Be adventurous.

Agreed. I couldn't stand the UI fix, but I LOVE the radar fix that came in that pack. The textures are awesome, and the planetary maps... well, they are just sick as hell. I recommend downloading the textures and radar mod at the least.

I put them in the texture folder but it's not working. Anything special I have to do?

Make sure the files inside the zips are placed directly in the /texture folder. Don't create sub-folders within the texture folder.
From memory I believe the map mod zip (as an example) has a folder within it - Take the files out of the folder and place it into /texture.

I was going to download the Shadowfox Compilation but I don't want a UI change and some other things...also, there was no description of what the weather mod part does. Do you know where I can get these separately? I tried Google to no avail.Ogunn wrote:Basically the Shadowfox compilation minus better color palette, weather mod, HQ eyes, music mod, and new skins for human, twilek, and zabrak...

The weather mod reduces the frequency of weather like rain, fog and sandstorms. it also takes the damage away from sandstorms.

The weather mod, AKA the Clear Skies MOD, does not simply reduce the frequency of rain, fog, and sandstorms, it gets rid of them altogether. On lower end computers, this can dramatically improve framerate. Admittedly, I use it myself when i log a second client in on my old, potato powered laptop, usually just for crafting, and it makes the framerate when it rains a bearable 20, up from 5-10 when it rains.Lyris wrote:The weather mod reduces the frequency of weather like rain, fog and sandstorms. it also takes the damage away from sandstorms.
My question about this, is how does Ed and staff feel about this mod. It is all client side, so it doesn't affect server stability at all; but getting rid of the rain, sand, and fog could give an unfair advantage to a player.

I run it and it does not remove the weather completely.Onikyto wrote:The weather mod, AKA the Clear Skies MOD, does not simply reduce the frequency of rain, fog, and sandstorms, it gets rid of them altogether. MOD's can run into gray areas... check our rules...Onikyto wrote:My question about this, is how does Ed and staff feel about this mod. It is all client side, so it doesn't affect server stability at all; but getting rid of the rain, sand, and fog could give an unfair advantage to a player.
6) Using 3rd party hacks & cheats on our server is strictly forbidden. This can include MODS designed to give in-game advantages such as damage reduction to your character or damage increase that your character deals or abilities to see beyond what the game originally intended by disabling textures (i.e. wall hack or removal of weather effects).

Well none of the mods I posted include the weather stuff. These are purely texture overhauls for buildings, planet textures and the map.
