Using the texture, and the map mod. Both are quite nice and there was no performance hit for me. It just improves a few things without making too obvious\out of place from vanilla.

MOD's can run into gray areas... check our rules...
6) Using 3rd party hacks & cheats on our server is strictly forbidden. This can include MODS designed to give in-game advantages such as damage reduction to your character or damage increase that your character deals or abilities to see beyond what the game originally intended by disabling textures (i.e. wall hack or removal of weather effects).

I wanted to visit back on this post. Removal of any weather "effect" client side does not stop it from going through server side. So if you use the clear skies mod, you will indeed get clear skies, but you will STILL take damage from storms. So clear skies sure but you're gonna get pelted with sand in the face no matter what.

This is true, but doesn't change that you can see more clearly than your opponent in a sandstorm.

Storm or no storm you can see no farther then the server renders which is 512m. Last I also checked storm or no storm, name plates, radar dots and map overlay indicators were not affected by storms either. So all those arguments of a clear field are out the window, since you can see over 100m in a heavy storm and see the names at 256m, arrows on overlays at 512m before they even appear on the radar and radar at 500m. So the illusion of having a leg up due to a sunny day, is just that, an illusion.

You could also argue the guy with collide-ables turned off has the advantage since the guy with collide-ables and grass on couldn't see you behind a tree, by the same logic, having a better computer would be a disadvantage due to shadows, trees, and things that don't appear unless you have high settings.... but again, radar, overlay, etc etc etc.

Shadowfox, no one's here to argue with you. If you'd like to chat with senior staff and convince them to have the rules changed, that's your call. Until posted otherwise, our players need to know that the weather mod is specifically ruled as a mod not to be utilized here on Awakening.

Any chance of getting the clean UI and texture overhaul reuploaded, or new links. I would love to try those out.

The reason you have to register is due to download tracking, DDoS attacks and no direct linking

Installed the Sytner's Satellite maps mod - can't get it to work.
First I placed in the Textures, edited the live.cfg file as per install instructions.
Then after it didn't work, I placed the file in with the patches in the main directory.

Same thing, no change to maps.

Also, tried extracting it with WinRAR, but no dice, it acted like the file was broken. Just in case, do I have to use 7zip to open tre file (mod)?

Remove the old maps from your texture folder. Also don't forget to check that you unzipped the UI terminal and Hyperdrive maps or your shuttle maps won't update.
use the second download and there is no need to edit any files.

Well didn't have the old maps, never modded SWG before. Anyways, figured it out, just need to look over this ---> http://www.eqsanctum.com/viewtopic.php?t=69

Those of you having issues like I did, seriously look that over. I have Awakening, R (oddly can't say this server name - its used as an example in the guide), and Elysium, they all share basically the same setup in terms of directories.

For a quick: If the mod shows its in a folder called "texture", just place those files in Texture, it should already be there. Don't mess with the "Live.cfg" file like Sytner (Satellite Maps) says in his/her install instructions (it won't work if you change the numbers or add anything in that cfg file). Everything else, if its in a different folder (in the zip/rar file), just add it to the main directory. I've added 12 different mods, all work in the exact manner I explained.

Also if your computer has 2 to 8+ gigs of Ram, suggest looking through the link I provided for how to expand the memory for the SWG client. I adjusted mine an the game runs way better now (performance wise, and I have everything settings at max).
