Returned to SWG after playing at release, and having fun. I never did an artisan before but I am trying to this go around, however, I am having a hard time how I get started selling resources on this server.
I have been on Tat, and the bazaars seem pretty inactive. I see the trade forums people are selling large bulk orders, which I don't really have. Is the best way really to just set up shop somewhere and hope people come by?
Thank you for the advice!
How do I start selling?

Hey there! Welcome to the server!
Glad you're enjoying your time. Now, I'm not the most advanced artisan, there are others that can probably advise you with more experience - however, I'll give it a shot. The bazaars stand largely in disuse on Awakening - mostly because there are fully functional player cities within spitting distance of the main traffic Starports. On Tat, there are at least 3 such /significantly/ active cities. I would respectfully make the following suggestions, if you want to be a "resource" dealer.
1. Open up a shop of your own in one of those established cities - find a market that is either low or non-existent in that town. Grind resources, for instance. I myself have found it difficult to find 1 or 2 cpu stuff in small batches, such as a noob would be after.
2. Find and approach someone that sells resources on the regular and offer to set up a partnership, where you would sell your resources at a discount rate and that individual could mark them up to sell to the general public.
3. Focus entirely on the rares and the super high value stuff - then, sit on that for a few months - start your business when people are starting to have their own uber resource supplies dry up, and just keep rolling that way.
4. Last but not least, consider turning your resources into other products. Being an artisan at master level doesn't give you a ton of options, but there are a few important ones, such as Swoops. If you /really/ want to give Artisan a go - I would recommend finding a profession to get into. The "resource selling" game is fairly saturated and if you fly around just a little while, you'll see oceans of harvesters out there.
It's a boon and a curse, so many awesome people on this server know this game like the back of their hand and are ultra efficient in their chosen fields. There are new angles to be found though - the best I can tell you - consider the business you're trying to make, find a unique approach, and go for it.
Best of luck!!

I'd recommend placing a vendor in a player-ran Mall, keeping your focus narrow on a specific supply.
This will increase the odds of players running by and checking out your vendor.
The Bazaar's are really not used much except to find player-owned vendors. If you place in a mall, you might get some unexpected traffic.
