For PVE...

What are your thoughts on Scout 1xxx (Tiny bit of Terrain Negotiation) vs one box of Novice Medic (self heal) vs Pistols xx3x (State Defense boost) or Other? And why?

Medic 1xxx or x1xx > Pistoleer xx3x >> Scout 1xxx

Scout 1xxx is pointless in my opinion, either options are way more useful than a minor increase in terrain negotiation. Things have to go wrong for you to be needing to run away from things and then it's not a surefire way to save yourself, it just might help.

Pistoleer xx3x isn't hugely useful for this particular build since you won't be nearing 100 state def even with it. PvE mobs, especially high end ones for which commando is desired, will tend to need 100+ or you don't see a huge benefit. The most useful part in my mind is the blind defense on the off chance 50 resists something for you - flamers aren't especially accurate.

Either medic is just an oh shit button (albeit a small oh shit button). I tend to go with injury treatment over speed but it's personal preference.

Very much my own thoughts as well. On live I spent my piddly points in 1xxx Medic. Was just wondering if anyone had thoughts on alternatives. The reason I'm doing (and did) MCommando instead of just flame-boxes is/was the +30 accuracy in the master box making it 110 vs 80 without it. Doesn't matter to mid-level mobs, but on high end on live it gave me a noticeably better hit rate. It also gives +25 melee and ranged def. Doesn't make up entirely for using the skill points elsewhere but it is a trade off I'm willing to make.

An option that I personally have used is 0040 commando, 0440 fencer, 0040 pistoleer, 0300 tk, 3040 medic. With a couple tapes you can max out def vs dizzy, kd, pd, and blind. You then have the option of snowcake for the extra accuracy and you won't be blinded (...much - sometimes ancients like cheating a bit on their special attacks). I don't notice a large difference in time-to-kill with 3 flamer dots vs 4 from master and it's handy to not have to pay as much attention to reposturing your commando while dual boxing (Also a strong heal if your stacker doesn't have it - if it does it's just an extra bit of safety)

I haven't tested it since the latest publish which made stuff a bit stronger, but I don't expect there'd be much difference.

Royan can you explain this? How are you getting 3 DOTs on a mob with a FT....let alone 4? I only ever see 1 DOT...the "On Fire" DOT.

Each special attack used with the flamethrower will apply its own DOT and they will stack. The indicator you see next to the enemy's HAM bar will only display a single icon.

Koven is bang on Lecul especially with only seeing the single icon on the mob you've flamed.

To clarify, Flame Single 1 would stack with Flame Single 2 to put 2 dots on the mob, then add in Flame Cone 1 for the 3rd Dot on the Mob as a non master.

(With Master Mando Flame cone 2 would be the 4th Dot on the Mob)

Mob will still only show the one 'on fire' icon

My commando is: MCommando/Medic 3340/Pistoleer 0044. He murders stuff and with nice meds, heals for 1800+. It is amazing as a support toon.

It's more a matter of needing a really good tissue, imp stock, and good slicing RNG - SB resources alone still make a shitty flamer. Last time I checked the bazaar you can get some decent ones in the 2-3m range to get you rolling though

I am pretty sure this ceased with publish 8. Things like flame DOTs do not stack anymore. Am I wrong about this?

Haven''t tested it yest but I hope they didn't change it. That dot stack was what made Commando viable for any high end pve dps.

You want a flamethrower with 2.5 speed or better and each point it gets faster in speed makes large improvements, ie 2.4, 2.3, 2.2, all those increment show large improvements in DPS. And If I remember you have to have like 1.3 or somewhere in that range to be speed capped Just keep in mind it is the speed stat that is important because the delay mod on those flamethrower skills is like 4x or something. Look up a damage calculator ..theres a couple different ones but I don't remember which one is the best.
