This was a discussion initiated by Lasod in the Weaponsmith forum. "speed vs damage" - viewtopic.php?f=80&t=5185
I thought it would be interesting to introduce the discussion to the Smuggler forum. Take a moment out to look over the comments in the Weaponsmith thread.
Now, here is my question: Considering how the SWG Awakening landscape has been inundated with so many non pre-CU items (structures, speeders, armor, etc.), is the notion of controlled slicing so far-fetched. Obviously, the argument of these objects being classified "rare drops" is constantly set forth as a case closer. However, look around! These "rare drops" aren't rare anymore. Player cities are full of these "rare drops."
Consider this: a "rare drop" for Smugglers that allows them to slice (x) amount of weapons or armor; (x) amount of times; and then "poof." A controlled yield... for a controlled amount of uses.
I'm no rocket scientist, but, a molecular clamp and precision laser ARE used to perform the 'slicing' procedure. Put simply, more control in targeting the slice result, at the very least, in so-called "rare" instances, would not upset the current trend on this server.
